Usually in any career fairs, jobs in the field of music is very much lacking. Jobs in the field of Arts, Cultures, Music, Dance or performance arts are usually not showcased at all.
I know that some graduates from these fields of study, have been displaced in their career. Some have become administrators or office workers due to the lack of opportunities. But opportunities are available and are not easily found!
The plan for the government to transform the Malaysian school, learning format, from an exam orientated one to a more creative and fun to learn environment, will require more performance arts faculties to churn out more graduates from these fields.
I was informed by one of the lecturers that there are more than 10,000 types of jobs related to the music industry! Right from the composers, lyricist, players of all sorts of instruments, the musical directors to the stage hands, roadies, makeup people and many more.
